Where to Buy Iberico Ham in the UK (2026 Guide)
Amazon, specialist Spanish shops or the deli counter? Where to buy real Iberico ham in the UK, what to order first and what to avoid.

Buying Iberico ham in Britain got harder in the last couple of years. Since April 2025 you can’t bring it back from Spain in your luggage, and supermarket shelves have had less Spanish charcuterie since late 2025, when UK authorities tightened checks on some Spanish pork products after African swine fever was found in wild boar near Barcelona. The good news: plenty of the real thing is still sold in the UK by importers and specialist shops. Here’s where to buy and what to order.

Our picks (pre-sliced, all black label)
The benchmark: Cinco Jotas
Cinco Jotas 5J Jamón de Bellota 100% Ibérico, sliced (70 g)
Cinco Jotas (5J) · Jabugo, Huelva · Pre-sliced leg (jamón), 70 g pack
The benchmark most Spaniards would name first. Jabugo style: intense, long, savoury. The pack to buy when you want the 'this is why people rave about it' moment.
Why we like it
- The reference brand in Spain
- Intense Jabugo flavour
Keep in mind
- Premium price for 70 g
Best for: A first taste of the top tier, a special gift
Price and availability on Amazon.co.uk
Best first bellota: hand-cut 100 g pack
100% Ibérico de Bellota ham, hand-cut slices (100 g)
Alises · Spain · Hand-cut slices, vacuum pack, 100 g
A straightforward black-label pack, cut by hand in thin bar-style slices and fulfilled by Amazon, so it usually arrives quickly. A good first bellota.
Why we like it
- Black label, hand-cut
- Fulfilled by Amazon: quick delivery
Keep in mind
- Lesser-known producer
Best for: First-time buyers, quick delivery
Price and availability on Amazon.co.uk
Best value for a group: Cinco Jotas paleta
Cinco Jotas 5J Paleta de Bellota 100% Ibérica, sliced (70 g)
Cinco Jotas (5J) · Jabugo, Huelva · Pre-sliced shoulder (paleta), 70 g pack
Paleta is the front leg: same pig and diet, smaller cut, a touch more intense and usually cheaper than jamón. A smart way to get 5J quality for a group.
Why we like it
- 5J quality for less
Keep in mind
- Shoulder, not leg: slightly less refined
Best for: Sharing, tapas night, 5J quality for less

To taste the Jabugo style: PDO Jabugo
Jamón de Bellota 100% Ibérico D.O.P. Jabugo, hand-cut, vacuum packed
PDO Jabugo · Sierra de Huelva (PDO Jabugo) · Hand-cut slices, vacuum pack
Carries the Jabugo Protected Designation of Origin seal — useful if you want to taste the intense Jabugo style and compare it with a Salamanca ham.
Best for: Comparing origins, Jabugo fans
Price and availability on Amazon.co.uk
For a tapas night: Ibérico selection
Ibérico selection: ham, salchichón, chorizo and cured loin (200 g)
Spanish deli selection · Spain · 4 sliced cured meats, 200 g
The easiest 'Spanish bar at home' kit: ham plus the three classic Ibérico cured meats. Check the label on the ham — it isn't the same grade as a black-label pack.
Best for: Tapas night, trying everything once

Buying on Amazon: pros and cons
Pros: fast delivery, easy returns on damaged items, reviews, and several Spanish producers and importers sell there directly.
Cons: listings change often, many are third-party sellers, and titles can be misleading (“Iberico” without “bellota”, or “Pata Negra” used loosely). Check three things on every listing:
- Seller and “dispatched from”: prefer the brand, an established importer, or Fulfilled by Amazon.
- Label wording: “100% Ibérico” and “de bellota” / “acorn-fed”.
- Jamón or paleta: both are good, but they’re not the same cut.
Specialist Spanish shops in the UK
These retailers focus on Spanish food, stock more producers and usually have people who can answer questions:
- Brindisa — importing Spanish food since 1988, with shops in London (including Borough Market) and a wide online range of Ibérico.
- Basco Fine Foods — a Yorkshire-based importer with a large online Spanish grocery.
- Jamon Area — an online specialist in Spanish hams.
Whole legs
A whole bellota leg is a serious purchase: typically 7–8 kg, several hundred pounds at the very least, and you’ll need a stand and a knife. Read whole leg vs sliced before buying one. If you’re sure:
Cinco Jotas whole Jamón 100% Ibérico de Bellota, bone-in (7.5–8 kg)
Cinco Jotas (5J) · Jabugo, Huelva · Whole bone-in leg
Only if you'll host often, have a stand and a long knife, and will eat it within ~6–8 weeks of opening. Otherwise sliced packs are better value and less waste.
Best for: Big celebrations, serious fans

Delivery and storage tips
- Refrigerate sliced packs when they arrive and check the best-before date.
- Unopened packs keep for weeks in the fridge; once opened, eat within a couple of days.
- Always serve at room temperature (20–30 minutes out of the fridge).
- Ordering for Christmas? Order by early December: Spanish ham is a popular gift and stock can run low.
What to avoid
- “Iberian-style” or “Spanish-style” ham made outside Spain.
- Listings with no breed percentage or diet.
- “Pata Negra” on anything that isn’t clearly 100% Ibérico de bellota.
